Grounds and Lakes
The Barn at Roundhurst is part of a 250 acre organic farm neighbouring the lower slopes of National Trust land at Blackdown and within The Southdowns National Park.
There are walks directly from the farm on to Blackdown, Sussex’s highest point with almost 360 degree views over three counties. Other walks take you across our private farm land where you are likely to encounter, pedigree Sussex cattle, several varieties of sheep, goats, pigs, alpaca and of course our very busy hens. Take a rug and one of our delicious picnics down to the lakes, listen to tumbling water and watch the antics of ducks, geese and moorhens.
All the rooms at the Barn at Roundhurst are off a tranquil, sheltered courtyard with their own outside seating area.
Tall elegant bamboo, lush Portuguese Laurels and evergreen clematis provide shelter and privacy for individual rooms and private seating areas. A collection of antique Mediterranean combines a calm Mediterranean atmosphere with the sounds of the English countryside.
The Guests’ Garden overlooks the farm, pastures and parkland with views onto Blackdown. Perfect for simply taking time out with your favourite book or taking tea in our romantic gazebo.
The private gardens at Roundhurst are delightful, featuring formal terraced gardens, a lush tropical pool garden, a millennium orchard planted with one hundred apple trees and several ponds and wild areas. The owners are often available to show you around.
